US economy still strong despite cooling elsewhere (Reuters)

February 08, 2019

The US economy remains in good shape, and is expected to have a still-strong annualized growth rate of 2.6% in the fourth quarter of 2018, down from 3.4% in the third, Reuters reported. The US economy is holding up compared to other economies because of the stimulus from tax cuts and it’s not as dependent on foreign trade as others. However, Harm Bandholz, chief US economist at UniCredit, told Reuters the US could see a mild recession in 2020.
