June 06, 2019

Filings for initial unemployment claims for the week ended June 1 were unchanged from the previous week at 218,000, the US Department of Labor reported today. Reuters reported the data suggest the labor market remains on solid footing.

The four-week moving average of US jobless claims, however, fell 2,500 to a level of 215,000.

The number of total claims from the week ended May 25 was revised up to 218,000 from 215,000. The four-week average for that week was also revised up by 750.

Tomorrow, the US jobs report for May is scheduled to be released.
