Largest US Staffing Firms Achieve Combined Revenue of $83.6 Billion

SIA Releases 2018 Ranking

Mountain View, California — July 30, 2018 — Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA), the global advisor on staffing and workforce solutions, has released its 2018 report on the Largest Staffing Firms in the United States. Ranked by revenue, the report covers firms that generated at least $100 million in US staffing revenue in 2017. This is SIA's 23rd annual report on the largest US staffing firms and features 143 companies. Six firms are included this year that did not appear in last year’s ranking.

“The 143 companies included in this year’s report generated a combined revenue of $83.6 billion and had an estimated 58.6% of market share,” said Barry Asin, President of SIA. “These organizations stand out for their sizable operations, impressive achievements and as industry leaders in today’s competitive and dynamic ecosystem.”

Allegis Group leads the report as the largest firm again this year, with $9.5 billion in US staffing revenue and 6.7% market share, making this the twelfth consecutive time Allegis has been listed first. Netherlands-based Randstad Holding and Switzerland-based Adecco, remained in the number two and three spots respectively. Kelly Services, previously fifth-ranking, was fourth, followed by Robert Half International.

The 5 largest US staffing firms are:

Company 2017 US Staffing Revenue ($millions) Market Share Headquarters Country
Allegis Group  9,529 6.7% USA
Randstad Holding  4,684 3.3% The Netherlands
Adecco 4,550 3.2% Switzerland
Kelly Services  3,621 2.5% USA
Robert Half International  3,448 2.4% USA

“Due in part to the favorable economic environment over the past year, this year’s report highlights the degree to which many large staffing firms continue to grow via both organic initiatives and strategic acquisitions,” said Timothy Landhuis, Director of Research at SIA. “Consistent with our research findings regarding a robust level of merger and acquisition activity in the US staffing industry, we note that five companies that appeared in last year’s report do not appear in this year’s report because they were acquired by another staffing company.”

The full 2018 Largest Staffing Firms in the United States report is available for SIA’s Corporate and CWS Council Members.
