Taiwan – Lower number of companies to offer wage increases in 2019 (Taiwan News)

Approximately 58% of businesses offered a wage increase to workers in 2018, and 46% are expecting to increase pay next year, reports Taiwan News citing data from 1111 Job Bank. The data suggests that the average wage boost for companies offering raises next year will be 3.75%. The main reasons for improving employee income this year were job performance (52.46% of survey respondents), business performance (43.77%), department performance (15.85%), and compatibility with the company (8.55%). Wage increases were found to be the most prevalent in the financial services sector and least prevalent in the logistics sector.
