Singapore – Mobile services provider StarHub to cut 300 jobs (AsiaOne)

08 October 2018

Telecommunications provider StarHub said it will be laying off 300 full-time employees by the end of the month, reports AsiaOne. The company cited "ongoing natural attrition" and a tightening of contractor positions and pointed to a saturated market. It said that the cuts "will primarily affect non-customer-facing functions". Chief strategic partnership officer Jeannie Ong is among the staff affected by the cuts. StarHub said that as part of its strategic transformation plan, it will focus on and invest in areas such as new businesses, digital customer service initiatives, enterprise-oriented information and communications technology solutions, and will be hiring more employees in fields such as cybersecurity, home and enterprise solutions, and customer care.
