Japan – Recruit Holdings announces acquisition of SimplyHired’s assets

01 July 2016

Japanese staffing giant Recruit Holdings has announced that it has acquired the assets of job search engine SimplyHired, effective today.

SimplyHired will continue to operate as a job search destination and will be a publishing partner of Indeed, which Recruit Holdings also owns.

At the end of May, SimplyHired informed its business partners that it was suspending its partnership agreements from 26th June. Rumours circulated that at least part of the business was in the process of being acquired. The company has 30 million monthly users and is active in 24 countries and 12 languages.

Recruit Holdings stated that it is committed to increasing its leadership position in the HR industry through both organic growth and M&A activities. In addition to strengthening its operations in Japan, Recruit sees many opportunities to grow in international markets and become a global HR leader.

Aside from Indeed, Recruit owns other job boards operating in Asia such as Rikunabi, Work in Japan, Hatalike, Minna-no-Kyujinban, Travaille, and From A Navi. In combination, according to Staffing Industry Analysts’ Largest Job Board ranking, this makes the company the world’s largest job board based on annual revenue, already well ahead of Linkedin which, it was recently announced, is being acquired by Microsoft.

Simply Hired was ranked the world’s 29th largest job board according to Staffing Industry Analysts.

No further details of the transaction were disclosed.
