Global Staffing Market Achieves $428 Billion in Revenue

Mountain View, California — May 30, 2017 — Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA), the global advisor on staffing and workforce solutions has released its latest Global Staffing Industry Market Estimates and Forecast report. Published twice annually, the Forecast report covers estimates and forecasts for the staffing industry by revenue and segment, with additional labor market information, including regional and historical data and a ranking of the 15 largest countries in terms of staffing industry revenue.

Per report estimates, the staffing industry generated USD 428 billion in revenue worldwide in 2016 (EUR 386 billion), with the US, Japan and the UK making up a majority of the revenue. Eighty-nine percent of revenue was generated via temporary staffing, with the remaining 11% stemming from place & search. Although commercial jobs were the primary driver of temporary staffing revenue overall, there were market exceptions, such as the US, where professional jobs accounted for the majority of revenue.

SIA predicts that global staffing revenue will continue to grow in 2017 and 2018. “Our forecast aligns with the IMF’s moderate outlook for global economic growth over the next two years,” said Barry Asin, President of SIA. “Despite a mix of uncertainty in certain markets, the strong secular trends and favorable regulatory changes in others, combined with expanding multi-national contingent workforce programs, signal balanced industry performance worldwide.”

The full Global Staffing Industry Market Estimates and Forecast: May 2017 Update report is available for SIA Corporate and CWS Council Members. Information from the report will be covered in SIA’s June 6th Staffing Industry Report Webinar.
