Tech roundup: Erecruit is new umbrella brand, Cielo invests in Talentify, Freelancer announces VMS and more

January 16, 2018

In tech news, Erecruit is the new company brand for Erecruit and Bond International Software; RPO provider Cielo invested in Talentify; online staffing firm Freelancer announced a VMS; software provider iCIMS Inc. acquired TextRecruit Inc.; Recruiter.com and HireMatch.io announced cryptocurrency partnership.

Here is more on the announcements:

Staffing firm software providers Erecruit and Bond International Software, which merged in June 2017 once both were owned by private equity firm Symphony Technology Group, will now operate under the Erecruit brand.

However, the company’s software products will continue with their separate brand identities. Those products are Erecruit Front Office, Middle Office, Credentialing and VMS solutions; Adapt Front and Back Office software for middle market firms; eStaff365 Onboarding; and TempBuddy, a temporary workforce management platform.

Erecruit was chosen as the company name following a strategic review.

Cielo and Talentify

Cielo, a recruitment process outsourcing provider based in Brookfield, Wis., invested in Talentify, a recruiting technology firm with a product called FLUX that aims to automatically attract, screen and schedule hourly candidates for interviews with hiring managers. The amount of investment was described as significant, although not a majority stake.

The product enables managers who use hourly workers, such as retailers, to put in a request for people by tapping a button on their phone; interviews will then start being scheduled, said Adam Godson, VP of global technology solutions at Cielo. “The design is to get as close to one click recruiting as we can,” Godson said.

Talentify’s product is designed for use on mobile phones and relies heavily on texting, he said. Often, mobile phones are the only computer hourly workers have, but the product also aims to offer greater ease of use.

“We think there’s a huge need from an hourly standpoint to recruit efficiently,” Godson said.

Talentify was established in 2015 in Brazil and entered the US market in early 2017; it’s now based in Orlando, Fla. Talentify will continue to operate as an independent business under the leadership of founder Othamar Gama Filho.

Cielo also uses Talentify in its own service offering, but it also adds a high-touch service layer, Godson said.

Online staffing firm Freelancer.com last month announced its Freelancer Enterprise vendor management system for managing virtual and local workforces.

“With Freelancer Enterprise we are providing those large organizations with a platform that enables transparency, control, talent management and compliance, together with the ability to scale adoption across the organization,” Freelancer Chief Executive Matt Barrie, chief executive of the Sydney, Australia-based firm.

Freelancer Enterprise's features include compliance and worker classification checks, and it has a live team to help companies find freelancers, curate their contests or assist with project management, according to the company. It also announced the product enables reporting on metrics; automates routing for approvals for deliverables; and the firm will provide workshops, video tutorials and priority support for clients.

iCIMS Inc. and TextRecruit

Applicant tracking system provider iCIMS Inc. announced this month that it acquired TextRecruit Inc., a platform that enables jobseekers to apply for openings via text message and live chat as well as enables companies to communicate with employees over text message. The company also has an automated recruiter interface that can text and chat with candidates.

TextRecruit will be a wholly owned subsidiary of Holmdel, NJ-based iCIMS and continue to integrate with other systems. TextRecruit has more than 400 customers, including Banner Health, Cracker Barrel, Aramark and Enterprise Holdings.

“From day one of our partnership with iCIMS we were excited about the potential for iCIMS and TextRecruit to work together to offer new candidate engagement and automation capabilities to the market,” according to a blog post by TextRecruit. “A few things to watch out for in the future are our candidate engagement platform becoming more robust, and Ari (our recruiting AI) expanding its role into other parts of the recruiting process.”

TextRecruit and Monster had also announced a partnership last month.

Recruiter.com and HireMatch.io

Recruiter.com announced it partnered with HireMatch.io, which provides the “(HIRE) token,” a cryptocurrency like bitcoin that is powered by blockchain and aimed at the workforce solutions ecosystem. Recruiters will be able to use the cryptocurrency for “splits” transactions, for purchasing job ads and other things.

“The (HIRE) token is a game changer for the recruiting industry, and it will be a big win for our recruiters, the global recruiter community, and anyone who offers a product or service centered on the job market,” said Michael Woloshin, president and CEO of Recruiter.com. “The coin will allow recruiters, HR managers, and jobseekers to transact placement fees in real time around the world.”

The partnership aims to increase exposure for HireMatch.
