Survey: 38% of Buyers Demand E-Verify

March 02, 2012

Only 38 percent of staffing buyers require staffing firms to use E-Verify, according to research released by Staffing Industry Analysts. E-Verify is the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Internet-based system that uses information from employees’ I-9 forms to determine if they are eligible to work in the U.S.

Although a minority of the staffing buyers surveyed require E-Verify, buyers of industrial/logistics/transportation staffing bucked that trend with 78 percent requiring its use.

Staffing Industry Analysts’ survey includes 236 responses from buyers of staffing services at 187 large companies. Staffing Industry Analysts’ corporate members can download the full report on E-Verify here.

The Department of Homeland Security reports that more than 307,000 employers are enrolled in E-Verify. Its use is mandatory in some states and for some employers with federal contracts or subcontracts.
