College degrees don’t always pay off, and some college graduates don’t out-earn high school grads but still face debt into retirement, Michelle Singletary writes in an opinion piece in The Washington Post. However, some employers still screen out experienced job applicants because they don’t have a college degree. “Far too often, we are devaluing work experience in favor of a degree that, for many, doesn’t adequately prepare them for a job anyway,” Singletary writes.
