Accenture announces new CEO, other executive changes

July 12, 2019

Accenture plc (NYSE: ACN) appointed Julie Sweet as its new CEO effective Sept. 1. Sweet is presently CEO of Accenture’s business in North America, the global consulting and outsourcing firm’s largest market with revenue of approximately $18 billion in fiscal 2018. The division represents almost 50% of the company’s revenue.

“Julie is the right person to lead Accenture into the future, given her strong command of our business and proven ability to drive results in our largest market,” said David Rowland, who currently serves as interim CEO. Rowland will move on to serve as executive chairman.

In turn, Marge Magner, who serves as nonexecutive chair of the board, will resume her role as lead independent director.

Former Chairman and CEO Pierre Nanterme died Jan. 31. He had become CEO in January 2011 and added the chairman role in February 2013.
