US Staffing Market to Reach a Record $153.5 Billion

Mountain View, California — April 22, 2019 — Staffing Industry Analysts (SIA), the global advisor on staffing and workforce solutions has released its latest US Staffing Industry Forecast report. Published twice annually, the US Forecast report provides market size estimates and growth forecasts for the entire industry, as well as for twelve broad occupational segments of temporary staffing, and direct hire and retained search.

We project 3% growth in temporary staffing for 2019, with growth rates varying by occupational segment, including declines in office/clerical and high single-digit growth in some of the professional segments. We project 5% growth for 2019 in place & search, which is comprised of the direct hire and retained search segments.

“2018 was a good year for the US staffing industry, and that momentum appears to be continuing this year,” said Timothy Landhuis, SIA’s Director of Research, North America. “With total US jobs exceeding 150 million and temporary help industry jobs over 3 million, the opportunities are vast for staffing firms with a focused strategy and proficient execution.”
